Fotona Lightwalker®
The Fotona Lightwalker® laser is a versatile dental tool that uses laser technology to perform a wide range of procedures. It is equipped with two laser wavelengths – Er:YAG and Nd:YAG – which allow it to perform both hard and soft tissue procedures with precision and efficiency.
How does it work?
The laser emits a beam of light that is absorbed by the tissue being treated. This energy is then converted into heat, which causes the tissue to vaporize or coagulate, depending on the specific procedure being performed. The laser is controlled by a computer system that allows for precise control over the energy output and duration of the laser pulses, ensuring a high level of accuracy and safety.
Here at Boisson Family Dentist, we will be using the Fotona Lightwalker® laser specifically in the following treatments:
- Frenectomies for tongue and lip ties (usually with no freezing required).
- NightLase procedure to treat snoring without appliances or CPAP.
- SWEEPS Root canal cleaning method: used to remove infected tissue from the root canal system, promoting healing and preventing further infection. This process is faster and less painful than traditional root canal treatment.
- Treatment of many areas of decay comfortably without freezing.
